Construction Noise Management
Construction noise, generated from different operations or activities on site, are quite offensive and are of great concern to the noise problem of Hong Kong.
Under the Noise Control Ordinance, various construction activities in Hong Kong are grouped into two categories:
General construction work
Percussive piling
They are controlled by means of a system of Construction Noise Permits (CNP) which are issued only under some prescribed conditions. Construction work that involves noisy operation is prohibited during the following restricted hours:
Between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. for every working days
At any time on a Sunday or a Public holiday

Examples of reducing noise disturbance are:
Using noise barriers, silencers, enclosures, etc.
Noise barrier to minimize potential noise impact
Adopting quiet methods of piling, construction and demolition
Reducing noise pollution by using low noise machinery
Conducting noise impact assessments regularly
Noise measurement at noise sensitive receivers
Using quality powered machinery and equipment with registered labels.
