Description
With a tight site of approximately 7000 m², the brief calls for a boarding school to accommodate 202 nos. of boarders and an 18-classrooms school, with several career training rooms and a school hall.
The institute will provide general Secondary School curriculum to students, who are referrals from the Social Welfare Department. Caritas, who is the School Sponsoring Body (SSB) will provide intensive counseling and educational guidance for students with a view to helping them tide over their transient development difficulties and strengthening their life skills, so that they can resume to the mainstream education for further study or choosing a suitable career development in their later life.
The design aims to create a closely knitted community for the students / boarders and the staff, and create an environment that students can feel at “HOME”. The soft landscape together with the sitting out areas at various levels encourage communication and interaction between students. Various learning areas can also extend from indoor to outdoor to facilitate group learning. The boarding block echoes the circular shape of the natural site boundary, and represents a unity of a village-liked community.
The external surfaces of the complex are largely painted in white, which signifies purity. Occasional accent of feature colours are used to soften the white background and portrait an image of playfulness and benevolentness, which are faithful to the school’s mortal.
