Hong Kong Velodrome

Description

The development of a velodrome-cum-sports centre and a town park where the indoor velodrome cycling track and its supporting facilities meet the highest standard of International Cycling Union (UCI) Category I facilities Inspiration was taken from bicycle racing helmets for the building form which also echoes the circular form of adjacent Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground. The convex roof form was adopted to reduce the effective building height to reduce visual impact from street level.

The buidling is well connected with the existing urban fabric by elevated walkways linked to the first floor of the velodrome building and the landscaped lawn terrace. Besides, the creation of a main circulation corridor inside the building increase the accessibility to the surrounding Town Park.
