District Open Space, Sports Centre & Library at Area 74, TKO (Now name as Tiu Keng Leng Sports Centre . Tiu Keng Leng Public Library)

Description

Nestled in a dense residential area in Tiu Keng Leng, the concept of building design is to act as a breathing lung by designing multi-layer ‘green carpet’ of the district open space embracing the two building masses (Sports Centre and Library).

The project consists of public leisure and cultural facilities provided for residents living in this neighbourhood, namely district open space, a sports centre made up of a 1,200-seat multi-purpose arena, and a district library.

The green features include photovoltaic system, solar hot water system, building integrated photovoltaic system and solar park lighting, rainwater recycling system and the project was given “Finalist” for Green Building Award 2014.

The project design was highly appraised internationally and won Winner of "Sustainability Project Award" and Highly Commended in "Community, Culture & Tourism Project Award (BUILT)" in Cityscape Awards for Emerging Markets 2016, and shortlisted in Category “Leisure Led Development” in World Architecture Festival Awards 2014.
