Kwu Tung North Multi-Welfare Services Complex
Care Centre with a People-centric Design
The Kwu Tung North Multi-welfare Services Complex is a 294-dormitory residential care home that provides safe, convenient and comfortable accommodation for around 1,750 elderly people. A day activity centre and hostel for severely mentally handicapped persons and a care and attention home for severely disabled persons are also included in the Complex.
Based on a design that resembles the Tree of Wisdom, this building uses fruits to represent the wealth of knowledge gained by the elderly along their life journey. Seven different fruit motifs representing each of the Residential Care Homes for the Elderly (RCHE) are featured in the interior design. This purpose-built care home not only caters for the needs of users, but also incorporates smart facilities for the future development of smart elderly homes.
